eve of the conquest.
This was the political and spiritual center of the Aztecs. The Pyramid of
Tlaloc, the rain god, and Huitzilopochtli,
the Aztec tribal god, dominated the center of the Plaza. Other temples were
reserved fot Tezcatlipoca, the god of planet venus,
the evening star, and Xipe Totec the god of sacrifice and renewel. The statue
